THE HARSH TRUTH WE ALL KNOW, BUT STRUGGLE TO ACCEPT

THE HARSH TRUTH WE ALL KNOW, BUT STRUGGLE TO ACCEPT

What is it with us humans that makes us want to read the things we already know, over and over again?
Maybe we need to read something at the right time, in order to really get it, and start implementing it in our lives.
I hope we’ll really get it this time.

OVERTHINKING IS KILLING YOU

One of the worst things you can do to yourself is to overthink everything.
It’s killing your creativity, it causes unnecessary stress, it’s tiring because you find yourself fighting non-existent problems in imaginary scenarios.

If you’re not going to do something, get it out of your system. Write it down, say it, and move on. Do not just overthink ideas; either actively work on them, or note them and move on.

We often feel like we’re being active, or productive when we really aren’t. Overthinking will do that to you. Technically, you are „brainstorming“, you’re thinking about that idea, you’re imagining scenarios, fighting problems that aren’t there…

But in reality-you are wasting your time on nothing. So if you have that idea that’s been in your head for a long time but you never really did anything with it- just get it out; acknowledge it, note it, and move on.

WORK WITH IT, OR WORK AROUND IT

One thing to keep in mind.
We are humans. We have weaknesses, it’s all normal.
You either work with it, or work around it.

If you can accept your weakness and you don’t see it slowing down your progress or deeply challenging the creation of the life you desire, accept it and move on.

STORY TIME

//
I can’t dance. It doesn’t come naturally to me. I look and feel awkward and I don’t really like it that much. My brother, on the other hand- a natural. He can do whatever and it looks cool, I’d have to learn and rehearse a choreography for 3 months straight to do that, and it would still look weird.

I’m not dreaming of becoming a professional dancer, so I don’t care, but if I were- I’d just have to go with the training and rehearsing until it stopped being weird.

The same thing with my sister. She can do whatever and she’ll always look amazing in photos- I strike my best pose and still manage to ruin the photo. And don’t tell me to relax, because I tried… And ruined the photo.

Again, I don’t care much about it because I don’t want to be a model-but if I wanted to…Ok I have no idea what then (I’m sure there’s a class for it somewhere, there’s a class for everything today)-the camera just doesn’t like me; but you get it- if it’s important to you-you have to work on it, if it’s not- then phew, you’re in luck.

//

If it’s stopping, or slowing you down, and you know you MUST overcome it in order to move forward, stop overthinking- make a plan how to work with it, or around it, and start doing it RIGHT AWAY.

You have to make time for it in your daily schedule, or it will just get forgotten and you’ll start procrastinating again.

Make time for the things you love

THE HARSH TRUTH, AND THE SAD TRUTH

The harsh truth is that in order for something to happen-you have to actually do it.
Boooo, right?
In order for you to become more athletic, you have to actually BE active almost every single day. You won’t wake up one day as this athletic person and go for a 2hour run just for fun, then come back home refreshed and full of energy.  No.

If you’re not working towards that every single day- you’ll still be wheezing after going up the stairs, like you are now.
This is the harsh truth. And it sucks.
But when you think about it, it’s also very helpful because it makes easier for you to figure out what do you really want in life. If you are willing to work towards something every day- that is a big deal, it’s kinda your thing then. It means you are dedicated and passionate about something-and is there anything better in life, than doing what you love?

So many people are not doing what they love, and they wonder why they’re unhappy, or even worse- think that being happy or doing what you love is a concept reserved only for the rich and privileged.

They live their whole lives unhappy, unfulfilled, living in a lie, led by fear, filled with bitterness.
And this is the sad truth.

THERE’S A HAPPY TRUTH, TOO!

You wanna hear something even cheesier than all the stuff above?

Unless you’re reading this as you’re taking your final breath- it’s not too late.

It sounds cheesy, but it's trueCharles Darwin spent most of his life as a naturalist who kept to himself, but at age 50 his “On the Origin of Species” changed the scientific community forever in 1859.

YOU DON’T NEED TO BE PERFECT IN ORDER TO DO SOMETHING

You just have to do it. Whatever you’re procrastinating to do- do it.

If you don’t like it, you can change it later. Don’t spend your time waiting, overthinking.
You’ll never be fully ready, and you’ll never have all the information on that topic, there is no perfect timing.
You make your choices, you don’t wait for them to present themselves to you. You see what you want and you work towards it.

You know how you heard somewhere about taking action in your life, taking control, being present…All that stuff that seemed a bit abstract to you? THAT IS IT. That’s all there is to it.

You make your choices, you don’t wait for them to present themselves to you. You see what you want and you work towards it.

Don't let perfection get in the way of progress

TAKE YOUR OWN LIFE BACK

At the end of the day, taking back control of your life, accepting responsibility for your life and your decisions is the most rewarding thing you’ll do.
Of course it’s hard, especially if you’re not where you’d want to be in life.

It would be easier to blame society, or your parents; but it’s so empowering to accept it as your own mistake, because the second you do, you’ll realize that you can do anything; that there are no rules applied to you, other than the ones you apply.

Jenny  wrote a great post about listening to your own voice, and making your life-your own. I highly recommend to read the post, and the rest of her blog, of course ; you’ll find inspiration, yummy recipes and all about minimalism.

Also, I found and interesting site, called Later Bloomer where Debra Eve writes about artists, athletes, explorers, etc. who made it a bit later in life. It’s really inspiring and interesting, definitely check it out!

I think walls decorated with molding are perfect for people who don’t like a lot of color or framed art on their walls, but still don’t want the place to look too empty or cold. The molding definitely gives a luxurious, sophisticated and elegant look to the space.

PROCRASTINATION REHAB

Procrastination rehab

I am not a morning person. At all. I don’t wake up energized and ready to win at life.
I am not a night-owl either. When my 9-5 people come home from work and start relaxing, somehow I feel like it’s time for me to relax too; even though I didn’t do anything important that day.

I guess I’m just a procrastinator then.

MY PROCRASTINATION ROUTINE

If you’re looking for ways to fail at life, just follow these easy steps and you’ll feel like a miserable piece of sh** in no time!
So let’s get started; I usually:

·Wake up too late
·Look at the time
·Cringe
·See how everyone is active and productive
·Cringe again
·Start making excuses for myself
·Make plans how from tomorrow everything will be different
·Make a BIG to do list
·Read and watch something motivating
·Don’t do anything from the list today, because tomorrow I’ll have a fresh start
·Waste another day doing nothing
·Fall asleep late (but very motivated)
·Wake up too late

It’s a vicious circle.

THE EARLY BIRD

They say early risers are apparently happier, healthier and more productive.
I’m trying to make a healthy, productive routine for myself; one that’ll help me achieve my goals and lead a happy and fulfilling life.
My motto is progress over perfection.

DO YOU HAVE A TOXIC MINDSET?

This is really important for me because I noticed that the way I procrastinate is that I prepare, research, wait for the perfect moment, make plans, lists, etc. because if I’m going to do something, I need to do it perfectly- from the first try. The reality is that there is no perfect moment, you’ll never have all the information, and plans don’t work unless you do.

This type of toxic mindset got me where I am today. Nowhere.
I didn’t achieve any of my goals, I neglected all my interests and hobbies, and I just live the same unfulfilling, passive scenario from above.

Since I refuse to waste my life like that anymore, I started making little changes that I think will make a big impact over time. They help me get in the right mindset and also, set the mood, which is very important for me. I react to my surroundings, they can affect my mood and my productivity; but more on that in another post.

WHERE DID MY MOTIVATION GO?

We already know that I procrastinate, so doing important things as soon as I wake up is the best option for me.
The problem is that all the motivation and inspiration from the night before somehow disappears in the morning, and the only thing I want to do is crawl back to my bed.

THE BIG SECRET THAT NO ONE HAS EVER THOUGHT OF. UNTIL NOW

That’s why I made an inspiring list of articles, blogs, and videos that I can watch the moment I wake up.
So instead of motivating myself before sleep, I just do it in the morning.

IT WORKS.
Groundbreaking.
Share it with your family and friends, shout it from the rooftops.

I feel embarrassed, because it’s actually so logic and simple.
Why didn’t I try that before?!
Oh yeah, there wasn’t enough research available on the subject, I wanted to avoid failing, so I just didn’t do anything at all.

REMEMBER THE MOTTO

Although the thing works, if you’re like me, give yourself time. And don’t be hard on yourself, remember the motto: Progress over perfection!
The first day I did this, I stayed in bed watching videos from 6-8 am.
BUT, I was awake from 6 am- it’s a win if you ask me. I was SO FREAKIN’ TIRED, I had around 5 hours of sleep, but I didn’t go back to bed, I made myself breakfast and started working on my to do list.

DO THE “WORST” THINGS FIRST

I tried doing the worst things first, because I knew if I start doing the little, not so important things first, I’ll just procrastinate again and then it was all for nothing.
The whole things is not to be busy, but to do the important things that contribute to my goals and interests.
The everyday, “unimportant” things come last.

The bottom line is, it works, I’m getting things done and it feels great!
I hope I’ll continue to do this and I can’t wait to see where it’ll lead me in life. I look forward to reading this post in a year and reflecting on it.
